Horace Greeley Girls & Boys Swim and Dive Teams Raise over $15,000 for cancer charities and place first among High Schools Participating
On Sunday, September 12th, the Horace Greeley Girls & Boys swim & dive teams participated in the 19th annual Hudson River Swim for Life which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This is the second year in a row the teams joined forces and braved the Hudson waters for a 3-mile swim from Nyack to Kings point Park in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
Although the weather was cool and the waters rough, the rain held out and all 18 participating Greeley athletes made it safely across the river. The team grew in participation from 15 participants last year to 18 this year. And, funds raised increased from $14,000 last year to over $15,000 this year, despite the tough economy. Donations are still being accepted at one of two web pages: https://wch.dojiggy.com/pledge/index.cfm?585F220817667F78780A0A667B78047D67724623563708730D7B070902 and at https://wch.dojiggy.com/pledge/index.cfm?585F22080C7E64747606627442502F4708730D7E097375.
In addition to the $15,000+ funds raised, the combined Horace Greeley Girls & Boys Swim and Dive Teams came in first among the high school competition for total funds raised.
