Michael John Hennelly of Brewster, NY passed away on October 12,
2011, at the age of 74. He lived a happy, full life surrounded by many people
who loved him dearly.
Mike
was born on August 28, 1937 in Tuam, Co. Galway, Ireland and was the eldest of
seven children.
Mike
emigrated to the United States in 1956 and resided in Mount Kisco, NY for 40+
years. He was the owner of Michael Hennelly Painting & Decorating. He is
survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Anne Rothman Hennelly. Mike was blessed with two
loving daughters, Annemarie (Annie) Anderson and Lisa Tighe and their husbands, Brian and Michael,
as well as by Ruth’s children, Robert, Jay and Richard Rothman and their wives,
Dana, Ruthanne and Jennifer. Mike was also blessed to have 14 grandchildren who
lovingly called him “Pa”.
Mike
will forever be remembered by his brothers Padraic of Ballinasloe, Co. Galway,
Ireland. Frank of Gormely, Ontario, Canada, and Vincent of Galway, Co. Galway,
Ireland, as well as by his loving sisters Maura McGinnity of Palisades Park, NJ,
Rita Barry of Ballon, Co. Carlow, Ireland and Carmel Sattar of Irvine,
CA.
Mike
was a guiet man with a great presence. He enjoyed long walks in the woods with
his grandchildren the peaceful sound of the ocean, meeting new people, working
in his beautiful garden and daily card games with his wife. He had a passion for
history and lived his racquetball days. He loved his family and told them often,
he was proud to be an American and was a loyal friend. Mike was an avid Jets fan and looked forward
to each session with a passion that was infectious. He will be missed by
many.
Visitation is Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Cassidy Flynn funeral
