Tisch School of the Arts Dean Honored by the Katonah Museum of Art at Crabtree's Kittle House

  • October 20, 2010

Nearly 100 guests gathered at Crabtree's Kittle House in Chappaqua to honor the work of Mary Schmidt Campbell, Dean of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, the recipient of the Katonah Museum of Art's 2010 Himmel Award. Named in honor of longtime Museum supporter Betty Himmel, the award recognizes innovative vision and scholarship in the arts. Following an early evening reception, Dean Campbell presented her lecture, "What is Public About Public Art?," discussing the sociopolitical implications of public landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, and Christo and Jeanne-Claude's "The Gates."
