1 Injured in Taconic SUV Rollover Near Millwood

The incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. and caused a traffic jam about a mile back. Traffic was normal about an hour later.

A man was injured Thursday afternoon after his blue SUV rolled over on the New Castle stretch of the Taconic State Parkway, according to Greg Santone, Millwood's first assistant fire chief. It took place near Campfire Road, near downtown Millwood.

Santone said Millwood firefighters responded at 3:12 p.m. They arrived at a northbound stretch in southern New Castle, near the border with Mount Pleasant. Vehicles could be seen backed up as far south as the parkway's Pleasantville Road exit in Briarcliff. The roadway was cleared by about 4 p.m.

A silver Subaru was involved in the incident but the female driver refused medical attention, Santone said. The man was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow by Briarcliff fire and ambulance, according to Santone. Briarcliff provided mutual aid, along with Westchester EMS and the state police. The man was classified as being under basic life support, Santone said, which entails minor injury status.

No extrication was needed.
