Armonk Man Burned in CT Truck Fire Has Died

A Bridgeport Hospital spokesperson, in CT confirmed that Justin Hervey, 23, of Armonk, died on Feb. 27.

Justin Hervey, the 23-year-old Armonk man who was severely burned when his truck caught fire in Fairfield, CT last September, has died, Bridgeport Hospital confirmed Thursday.  

Hervey, a part-time Fairfield University student, died on Feb. 27 of the injuries caused by the incident in Tunxis Hill Park, spokesperson John Cappiello said. He was treated in the hospital's burn unit for six months before his death.

Police and fire personnel responded to the scene on Sept. 6. A Little League game was taking place at the park when witnesses recall hearing a "popping" sound before seeing Hervey's blue Chevy Tahoe was engulfed in flames.

Little League coaches and parents attempted to help Hervey until emergency responders arrived.

Fairfield detectives enlisted the help of a private lab to establish the cause of the truck fire. The exact cause has not been determined yet.
