The below on the Jan. 12 contest was taken from the Horace Greeley Sports Boosters website:
Greeley lost its second straight game in a nail-biter to Rye. Once again, the Quakers were done in by a late technical foul that awarded the Garnets with two shots and possession on top of the two shots for a personal foul.
Although Rye only hit two out of the four free throws, it was enough to slow down Greeley's momentum as they furiously fought back from an eight point deficit with less than three minutes in the game.
Greeley managed to cut the lead to three points and pressure defense forced a five second violation against Rye as it could not inbound the ball underneath Greeley's basket. The turnover set up one last opportunity to tie the game but the Quakers missed an open three point shot with four seconds left.
Jackie Brett led the Quakers with 19 points and Lindsey Hill chipped in 10 points.
