Conti Could Return To Work On Chappaqua Bridge This Monday

June 21 now new start date, moved up from June 28.

The Conti Group, which had previously indicated that it would return back to work on the Route 120 bridge on June 28, has moved up its start date to this Monday.

The decision was confirmed today by Assemblyman Robert Castelli, who said that he spoke with Patrick Hogan, Conti's vice president of engineering and project management, about the matter. It was first reported by NewCastleNOW.org earlier this weekend.

In an interview on June 14, Castelli told Patch that the tentative date was June 28. The contractor changed its mind since then, and Castelli said that he heard about the update a few days back.

The trend towards resumption of work began when Conti received more than $698,000 - out of a total of more than $900,000 it says it is owed by New York State - earlier this month. The contractor had walked off the job in early April amid complaints that it wasn't being compensated properly, and with the state's late budget as a backdrop.
