Federal Primary Election June 26th—Don't Forget to Vote!

Republicans have two primaries to vote in next week; Democrats have one.

By Sheila Miller Bernson and Jennifer Mebes Flagg, Co-Presidents of the League of Women Voters of New Castle

Next Tuesday, June 26th, New Castle voters will have the opportunity to vote in a Republican primary for the US Senate (three candidates) and either, depending on your District, the Republican primary for the US Congress, District 17 (two candidates) or the Democratic primary for the US Congress, District 18 (five candidates). Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at your usual polling place.

New Congressional Districts
Election districts have changed! The incumbent who previously represented you may have changed. Boundary lines have been redrawn and the district numbers have changed. While most of the Town of New Castle is in US Congress District 17, a small section in the eastern part of the town is in US Congress District 18. The 17th District includes Rockland and part of Westchester Counties. The 18th District includes Orange, Putnam, part of Duchess and part of Westchester Counties.

Even if your District has changed, you still report to your traditional polling place. To determine your District and which candidates are on your ballot, please visit the League of Women Voter®’s www.vote411.org website and complete the “On Your Ballot” section, entering in your address for your personalized information.  A map of New Castle’s Congressional Districts can be found at:
