Fox Lane Grad Recruited to Pace U. Football

The Setters are gearing up for the upcoming season.

has recruited 52 new athletes, including Fox Lane graduate Frank Lattanzi, for the 2011 football team, Head Coach Chris Dapolito announced last week.

The Setters, a NCAA Division II university, will have 28 new instate players, as well as athletes from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, Georgia, Connecticut and Maryland.

The 2011 season begins on Sept. 1 with a non-conference road game at East Stroudsburg Universty at 6:05 p.m.

Frank Lattanzi- 6'0, 215, LB; Bedford Hills NY (Fox Lane HS): Lattanzi comes to Pace after earning an All-League selection from Fox Lane here in Westchester County. He will transition to linebacker and adding depth and a tenacious work ethic to the line backing corps.

Ken Aboasu – 6'0, 235, LB; Hamilton, NJ (Hamilton North HS: Nottingham): Aboasu had 125 tackles and 2.5 sacks in his senior season at Nottingham. He was a First Team Defense All Valley Division selection in the West Jersey Football League and will play in the Sunshine Class All-Star Game.

Chris Archibal – 6'5, 215, LS; Nyack, NY (Nyack HS): Archibal served as long snapper for Nyack High School. He will look to make an immediate contribution on the Setters Special Teams at the long snapping position.

Mike Barry- 6'3, 185, DB; Massapequa, NY (Massapequa High School): Barry rushed for 500 yards with 10 TD's and threw for three more on offense. He also posted 15 tackles and seven pass deflections as a corner as he helped lead Massapequa to the Long Island Quarterfinals. Mike was an All County selection and was awarded the Long Island Unsung Hero Award. Mike brings leadership, size and versatility to a young defensive backfield.

Brian Beeker- 5'10, 170 QB/ATH; Spring Hill, FL (Springstead High School): Beeker threw for 855 yards with eight TD's and rushed for 1,251 yards and six TD's earning him Second Team All-North Suncoast selection, Old Spice Athlete of the Year and Air Force Athlete of Week. Beeker brings speed and versatility along with a good knowledge of the game.

Jim Bell – 6'2, 260, OL; Philadelphia, PA (Roman Catholic HS):  Bell was a 2010 Second Team All Catholic, Second Team All State, Top 33 Senior in Philadelphia, and a City All-Star.

Harman Binning – 5'9, 180, RB; Tenafly, NJ (Tenafly HS): Binning will be one of three incoming freshman running backs trying to fill the large shoes left by graduating senior Jason Washington.

John Carter- 6'0, 190, LB; Tampa, FL (Robinson High School): Carter brings strength, speed and tenacity to the defensive side of the ball, along with leadership as a freshman.

Jeffrey Celestino – 6'3, 215, DE; Poughkeepsie, NY (Spackenkill HS): In his senior season Celestino had 45 tackles, six sacks, forced a fumble, and had a fumble recovery. He will look bring an immediate impact to the Setters defensive line this next fall.

Gino  Cohee- 6'1, 190, QB; Lynnfield, MA (Lynnfield High School): Cohee has been a three-year starter for the Pioneers and two-time all-league selection.  As senior captain, he completed 74 of 154 passes for 1,347 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also rushed for 811 yards on 111 carries for eight TD's, averaging seven yards a carry.  He was a huge contribution to the team's success with the best two-year performance in the history of the school with 19 wins and a league championship in 2009. 

Ryan Cole – 6'3, 250 OL; Brick, NJ (Brick Township HS): A standout offensive lineman for the Brick Green Dragons, which was once home to legendary HFC Warren Wolf, Cole will play a major role in the rebuilding of the Setters front line.

Jay Correa – 6'0, 190, WR; Upper Saddle River, NJ (Don Bosco Prep): Jay played receiver for one of the most perennial power houses in the country, Don Bosco Prep, which ranked 3rd nationally by MaxPreps in 2010. Correa had 412 yards receiving with six TD's. Defensively, he had over 40 tackles and blocked two punts on the year.

Cameron Davis – 5'11, 185 WR; Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (Providence HS): Davis comes to the Pleasantville campus as one of the top Florida recruits for this year's Setters class.  A captain and All-State selection, Davis led the city of Jacksonville with four returns for TD's.

Raushan Davis- 6'1, 205, DL; Clinton, MD (Surrattsville High School): Davis is an explosive defensive lineman who has shown stellar athleticism on the field for the Surrattisville Hornets.  His natural strength and ability to find the ball is exactly what Pace Football needs for the 2011 season.  He will compete for a starting position this season and pose as a big threat to our opponent's offense. 

Nick Deternova- 6'4, 200, WR; Bellmore, NY (Mepham High School): Deternova had 15 receptions last season with three TD's. Nick was Team Captain and named Unsung Hero during his Senior Season. Deternova brings size and strength to the offensive side of the ball and his leadership qualities will benefit the program.

Joe Devito- 6'0, 250, DL; Hawthorne, NY (Westlake High School): Joe was named to the Section 1 All League Team and All-Star Game. He was team captain and recorded 40 tackles during his senior season. Joe brings quickness to the defensive line along with a tremendous work ethic that will make the unit stronger on a daily basis.

Alfred DiLoreto- 6'0, 200, DE; Nesconset, NY (Smithtown West HS): DiLoreto was a letter winner at Smithtown West and will look to establish himself on the defensive line.

Ryan Drummond- 6'1, 185, QB; Port Chester, NY (Port Chester HS): A local star from Port Chester who led his team to a playoff berth in 2010, Drummond will be able to showcase his skills in Pace's multiple offensive attack.

Jonathan Fineo- 6'0, 240, OL/DL; Garden City, NY (Carey HS): Fineo was a team captain at Carey High School and is looking to establish himself on a young offensive line unit.

Scott Gadsden- 6'1, 195, QB; Queens, NY (Campus Magnet HS): Gadsden had a total of 817 passing yards and 175 rushing yards.  He was selected as All-City, All-County, a High School Player Development All-Star and an Outback Bowl Participant.

Ray Gualano- 6'4, 270, OL; Mamaroneck, NY (Mamaroneck HS): Gualano started at Mamaroneck HS at both left guard and right tackle on the offensive line in his senior season. In 2010, he was a left tackle at Fairleigh Dickinson University. As a transfer, Gualano will look to bring both experience and leadership to what will be a very young OL group next season for the Setters.

Chris Hartney- 6'4, 245, TE/DE; South Ozone Park, NY (Christ The King High School): Hartney was named to the NYCHSFL ALL League Team and Second Team  All Borough Team in which he collected 14 receptions for 171 yards. Chris has great size and strength and is a threat on both sides of the ball.

Michael Hess- 5'9, 210, ATH; Springfield, NJ (Dayton HS): Hess brings versatility to this year's class. At Dayton, Hess played on both sides of the ball at running back and linebacker. He also held all kicking duties for the Bulldogs. In 2010, he had 12 rushes for 70 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, he recorded 31 tackles. Hess will come in next fall looking to compete for a starting job at either defensive back or linebacker and will look to compete for the starting kickoff duty.

Curtis Hilton- 5'8, 170, LB/RB; Tampa, FL (Robinson HS): Hilton shined on the defensive side of the ball compiling 48 tackles, four sacks, one interception and a fumble recovery for the Robinson High School team that made it to the state semifinals.

Jake Iadanza- 6'0, 250, OL/DL; Centerport, NY (Rocky Point HS): Iadanza was a 2010 captain at Rocky Point High School.  Along with this honor, he was named First Team All-Division, Offensive Line MVP and Mr. Intensity for his efforts in the weight room.

Chris Jimenez- 5'11, 170, K/DB; Floral Park, NY (Floral Park High School): Jimenez, who was a team captain for the Knights, recorded six interceptions and added three field goals en-route to an All County Selection. Chris is a good defender and will compete in the defensive backfield as well as special teams.

Joe Karo- 5'10, 185, RB/DB; Bellmore, NY (Bellmore JFK): Karo rushed for 1,050 yards during his senior season with 12 TD's, earning him All County honors. Joe brings versatility and quickness to the program with the ability to contribute on either side of the ball.

Shawn Maignan- 5'10, 190, LB; Stamford CT (Stamford HS): Shawn brings his athleticism to the line backing corps for the Setters this fall where speed is needed to complete Pace's new attacking scheme on defense.

Chris McClain- 6'1, 185, DB; Bellerose, NY (St. Francis Prep): As team captain, McClain earned a NYCHSFL All League Selection recording 52 tackles (22 Assisted) and three INT's with three pass deflections. McClain brings speed and athleticism to the defensive backfield along with a tremendous work ethic.   

Shane Mulcahy- 6'3, 250, OL; Poughkeepsie, NY (Spackenkill HS): Size and quickness was a factor when building this year's recruiting class and Mulcahy fits the mold Coach John Tice was looking for.  Mulcahy, a captain his senior year, brings his athleticism and love for the technical side of the game that will make him an early candidate for playing time this fall.

John Nictas- 6'0, 270, OL/DL; New Hyde Park, NY (Herricks HS): Nictas was selected as a 2010 All-Conference Member and the 2010 Defensive Team MVP at Herricks High School.

Connor Oglesby- 6'3, 260, OL; Ridge, NY (Longwood HS): Oglesby was a two-year starter for the Lions at the Offensive Tackle position. He earned First Team All-Division honors and was selected to compete in the Suffolk County All-Star Game.

James Ognibene- 5'8, 165, ATH; Chester, NY (Chester Academy): Ognibene had 1,200 all purpose yards and 20 touchdowns in his senior year.  He was an All-League, All-Section and Second Team All-State selection.

Kyle Oltman- 5'7, 170, DB; Fredericksburg, VA (Stafford High School):
 Oltman recorded 60 tackles, three forced fumbles, a sack and interception for the Stafford Indians his senior year.  He was also a starter for the lacrosse team where he received Honorable Mention All-District.  Oltman is also an outstanding student where he maintained above a 4.0 GPA throughout high school.  Oltman's hard work on and off the field will be a huge asset to Pace Football. 

Adrian Paljevic- 6'3, 220, TE/DL; Manhattan, NY (Holy Cross High School): Paljevic recorded 25 tackles and four sacks on the defensive side of the ball and three TD's as a TE, earning him NYCHSFL All League Honors. Paljevic's size, aggressive style and incredible leadership and work ethic will pay huge dividends for the program. 

Amit Rai- 6'3, 290, OL; Cresskill, NJ (Cresskill HS): Rai had over 40 tackles and one sack as a defensive lineman and was selected to the 1st Team All-Patriot League,  2nd Team All-County, and to the New Jersey Super 100 All State Team as an OL. Rai was also selected to play in the New Jersey North-South All Star Game.

Joe Roman- 5'10, 175, DB; Staten Island, NY (St. Joseph By The Sea): Roman was a NYCHSFL All League and Senior All Star member after a season with over 30 tackles. Roman is a great tackler and brings speed and knowledge to the defensive backfield.

Josh Santana- 5'10, 220, LB; Spring Hill, FL (Springstead High School): Santana recorded 120 tackles, 20 tackles for losses, three sacks and three forced fumbles en-route to earning First Team All-County, First Team All District and Second Team All-North Suncoast Honors. Santana brings speed and tenacity along with excellent leadership skills to the Pace Defense.

Brandon Smith- 6'0, 195, LB; Stockbridge, GA (Woodland High School): Smith received 4A Honorable Mention recording 81 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, four sacks and two INT's. Smith's aggressive play and tackling ability along with good quickness will help drastically improve the defensive side of the ball.      

Brett Smith- 6'3, 205, DB; Bloomfield Hills, MI (Detroit Country Day/Bridgton Academy): Smith served as team captain in his senior season at Detroit Country Day and was an All-Area selection in his junior year. He also competed on Country Day's Lacrosse team. Smith spent the 2010 season at Bridgton Academy, a preparatory school in Maine. Smith brings great size and ability and will look to compete for a starting job at safety.

Kenneth Terry- 5'11, 180, ATH; Roslindale, MA (Boston Latin School): A former running back and linebacker hailing from the oldest public school in the United States, Terry will join the Setters roster this fall and can see time on either side of the ball. 

Adler Thony- 5'10, 180, QB; Brooklyn, NY (Sheepshead Bay High School): Thony threw for 650 Yards with seven TD's and rushed for 81 yards during his senior season. Thony brings leadership and pure athleticism to the quarterback position.

Anthony Upshaw- 6'2, 175, ATH; Teaneck, NJ (Teaneck HS): In six games, Upshaw threw for 1,000 yards and 12 TD passes as a QB. He also ran for 300 yards and two rushing TD's. In three games as a receiver, he had 300 yards receiving and two TD's. Upshaw was a New Jersey Honorable Mention All-League selection.

Nickolas VanOudenhove- 6'2, 230, OL/DL; Enfield, CT (Enfield HS): VanOudenhove had five sacks, two fumble recoveries and one touchdown in his senior campaign.  He was All-Conference, All-State, and Lineman of the Year for the town of Enfield.

Rob Vassallo- 6'0, 175, DB; Lynbrook, NY (Chaminade High School): Vassallo was captain for the Flyers and received NYCHSFL All-League Honors and was named as a starter for the All-Star Game. His work ethic and agility makes everyone around him better.

Austen Verhulst- 6'2, 185, DB; St. James, NY (St. Anthony's HS): Verhulst played at national powerhouse St. Anthony's of Long Island, NY.  During his tenure, they were Catholic League Champions and he also participated in the Senior Bowl.

Andy Vital- 5'10, 200, DB; Hamilton, NJ (Hamilton North HS/Nottingham): Vital rushed the ball 40 times for 219 yards (5.5 yards per carry) with three TD's. He also recorded six receptions for 118 yards (19.7 yards per catch). On defense, Vital had 73.5 tackles, seven tackles for loss, five passes defended, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Vital was a Second Team Trentonian All-Colonial Valley Conference selection and a First Team All Valley Division selection. In addition, Vital was invited to play in the Sunshine Classic All-Star Game.

James Weigl- 6'1, 235, OL; Smithtown, NY (Smithtown West HS): As an OL, Weigl did not allow any sacks and was highly effective with the run game. He was eligible for the Suffolk County All-Star Game and helped lead Smithtown West to a playoff run.

John Wigand- 6'4, 235, OL/DL; Merrick, NY (Calhoun High School): Wigand recorded 12 tackles and a sack during his senior campaign and was a key contributor for Calhoun on the offensive line. He brings leadership to the program and will compete early on due to his size and quickness.

Evan Wildberger- 6'3, 235, OL; Lindenhurst, NY (Lindenhurst HS): Wildberger was a letter winner at Lindenhurst High School and will look to establish himself on the offensive line.

Blair Wynn- 6'0, 210, RB; Montvale, NJ (Worcester Academy/St. Joseph Regional HS): Wynn finds his way back to the New York area after a successful year at Worcester Academy where he matured into one of the top half backs in the Northeast Region.  The former St. Josephs Regional player will be competing for the running back position when the Setters open camp this August.

Tyler Zaro- 6'3, 210, LB; Stamford, CT (Trinity Catholic HS): Zaro posted 60 solo tackles and five forced fumbles on the defensive side of the ball, while also having 19 receptions for 356 yards and scoring six touchdowns on offense.  He was an All-County Tight End, Team Captain and Second Team Defensive Player of the Year.
