Man Seriously Injured After Being Hit by Train in Mount Kisco

The person, at the edge of the platform, was hit as the train was pulling into the station. He suffered serious head injury.

A man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after he was struck by a Metro-North train stopping at the Mount Kisco station.

The incident happened around 2:45 p.m., according to Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) spokesman Salvatore Arena. First responders got notice of the incident just before 3 p.m. The man was still breathing after the accident, when he was transported out of the scene.

The man, 36, was close enough to the platform's edge to be in danger of getting hit, according to Arena. When the man was hit by the train, he fell towards the platform, Arena explained. He was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with severe head injury.

The train that stopped in Mount Kisco was going northbound, towards the station in Southeast. It had to terminate at Mount Kisco because of the incident, Arena explained, and passengers were compensated with a later train.

The train involved was stopped at the station until later in the afternoon.

Mount Kisco police, firefighters and volunteer ambulance corps members responded, as did Westchester EMS. Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) police, along with the agency's EMS/fire, came to support.
