Patch Picks: The Best Gifts for Dad

The most unique, stylish, quirky, and heartfelt gifts for dad.

To all the fathers who make our day-to-day a little more fun, our world seem a little more secure, and our lives a whole lot better – thanks!   To show our appreciation, we dedicated this week’s Patch Picks to finding the best gifts for Dad.

We skipped the mall and the chain stores and headed straight for our favorite local boutiques to find the most unique, stylish, quirky, and heartfelt gifts for dads.

Here’s this week’s Patch Picks:

For the Backyard Lounger

If his yard is his paradise, stop into Charles Department Store.  According to Sales Manager Mary Kratovich, La Fuma zero-gravity chairs are really hot this year because they are perfect for stylish and comfortable outdoor relaxation (start at $149).

Also available at Charles Department Store is the super-chic Big Green Egg, a perfect gift idea for Dads who like to grill with charcoal grills.  For fathers who prefer cooking with gas, one can choose from a selection of Webber Gas Grills (from $249 to $4,000).   Then check out the latest and greatest grill gadgets (starting at $10).

And if you're looking for wines to go with those backyard meals, get the grill master a nice rose that pairs well with grilled meats and fish. Bedford Wine Merchants recommends summer rosés, which have a "natural affinity for the foods of spring and summer... and are a marvelous accompaniment to spicy foods, as they tone down the heat and the spice brings out the character of the wine."

Gifts for the Dapper Dad

Squires of Chappaqua and Katonah is the perfect place to shop for the dapper Dad.  Co-owner Michael Kushner recommends Vineyard Vines men’s short sleeve polos ($68) and cotton solid or plaid golf shorts ($70), paired with Keen Newport Sandals ($100) for his feet.  In addition, because it’s turning out to be an unusually rainy season, pick up the GORE-TEX  brand Theta AR Jacket (from $275 to $515).  “This multi-purpose raincoat is extremely waterproof and breathable but also super stylish with an athletic fit,” Kushner said.

Gifts for the Quirky Dad

If you’re looking for fun, quirky, and affordable gifts, stop into NoKa Joe’s.  For the rocker Dad who also cooks, pick up The Shredder, a cheese shredder that looks like an electric guitar ($12.95 The Pet Head, the newest desk toy/stress reliever, is a great gift idea for the office dad.  This rotund little guy is moldable & squishable to form different body shapes and facial expressions ($14.95).  Another fun idea is to pick up candy from his childhood: Bosco Chocolate Bars ($3.70) or Turkish Taffy by Bonomo, which comes in banana, vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ($1.30).

Gifts for the Home Bartenders

Baxter and Co Home has some great Father's Day gifts for the home bartender,” said Baxter’s owner Mary Mayland.  She suggests her antique door knob wine stoppers ($65), crown wine bottle coasters ($35), champagne and wine urn coolers ($95), pewter fox head stirrup cups ($30), and Ballantine and Seagrams water pitchers ($30).

For the Pampered Dad

If the dad in your life likes to be pampered, take advantage of Facelogic of Mount Kisco’s June deals on massage & reflexology.  For the month of June, book a 50-minute Swedish massage or reflexology for only $59, or get a 50-minute deep tissue or hot stone massage for only $69.

Brunch with Dad

If the father in your life already has it all, give him the gift of time together.  Make a reservation for Crabtree’s Kittle House Father’s Day Brunch.  Crabtree’s prix-fixe brunch ($55 for adults), which will include draft beers, house wine, mimosas and bloody mary’s, traditional brunch and complimentary desserts for all dads, runs from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
