Poll: New Store Openings of 2011

Despite tough times, this year signaled the coming of many new businesses to New Castle and Mount Kisco.

Despite a down economy and a slew of vacancies, 2011 also marked the start of several new businesses in the area and coincided with a renewed interest in shopping local.

In downtown Chappaqua, many vacant storefronts in the downtown filled up, notably along lower King Street. The new businesses in that corridor included , and . On South Greeley Avenue, began serving ice cream.

While Mount Kisco was still grappling with the loss of Borders and its impact on East Main Street, a diverse bunch of stores opened and attracted followings. They ranged from , which came with a new landscaped pocket park, to sneaker boutique .

carved out a strong food niche, while marked the return of bowling to this area. Meanwhile, brought a new gym to the area.
