Poll: Will You Avoid Shopping on Lower King Street if There's Construction?
Merchants concerned about business disruption during the town's planned overhaul to downtown Chappaqua corridor.
As we reported, New Castle officials are considering a renovation of Chappaqua's lower King Street, home to several prominent local stores. The plan includes digging up to the street to replace water and sewer lines, replacing pavement and sidewalks, and shifting parking spaces to be adjacent to the southern curb instead of the northern side. A pocket park is also planned for the section of King that intersects with Allen Place.
Some business owners, however, are worried that the construction, which the town anticipates taking about 2-3 months during the summer, will discourage people from patronizing their stores and cause them hardship.
If the town chooses to go forward with this project, will it make you less likely to shop on lower King or will it have no impact? Vote in our poll and sound off in our comments section!

Yes, I think it will prevent me from shopping there if there is construction.

Would there be anything for mitigation on King during such work that would change your minds?
