New York State Police have an announced the identity of the man allegedly involved in Mount Kisco car theft and subsequent pursuit chase.

Matthew Brodoff, a 19-year-old who had a South Salem residence given, was arrested and chargedwith criminal possession of stolen property and assault, both felonies.

According to the arrest announcement, a caller reported "an erratic operator" driving on Route 121 in nearby Cross River. A Lewisboro police officer was said to confirm that the car spotted, a 2002 Subaru Legacy, was the same vehicle reportedly stolen in Mount Kisco.

The Lewisboro cop began the pursuit to North Salem, with state troopers and North Salem police taking the chase thereafter, which headed into the southbound lane of I-684.

Troopers, state police announced, stopped the vehicle while two of their vehicles were allegedly hit by Brodoff during the pursuit. Brodoff's vehicle sustained damage in the front and caught fire, which was put out.

Brodoff, along with Trooper Thomas Libretti, both sustained injuries due to Brodoff allegedly resisting arrest.

Brodoff was arrainged in Somers town court, police said. He was sent to Westchester county jail without bail and is set to appear in Lewisboro town court on March 5.
