What Bottle Do You Want for This Valentine's Day?
Merchants give their suggestions.
Looking for something special to drink with your significant other? You can't go wrong by browsing locally as there are many choices within a short walk or a drive. To get an idea of what to highlight for Valentine's Day, Patch asked local merchants to give their suggestions. Here's what they gave:
Chappaqua Wine & Spirit Company:
Owner Kirk Sprenger suggests a Brut rose champagne, which is rose-tinted sparking wine from the south of France. The color, he says, comes from leaving the grapes' skins in with the juice in order to get the right pigment. Additionally, Sprenger notes the various Chardonnays that he carries, including a white Backhouse from California, which he calls "a very versatile Chardonnay." He also suggests a Chianti Coll Fiorentini, which is a red.
Anthony Colasacco, Pour's owner, has a number of recommendations. They include the Vino da Tavola Frizzante from Italy's Piedmont region, which is described as "Super golden in the glass and has a crazy barley apple pie thing going on." Other recommendations include a 2006 Pinot Noir, which has perfumed red berries, and a 2006 Domaine Hubert Lamy ‘Macherelles’ 1er Cru from Burgundy in France.
