 e judges call interested high school students to the bar \nby Judge Davi
 d S. Zuckerman\n\nCalling all high school students who dream of working 
 in the legal system as judge\, lawyer\, police officer or clerk. New Cas
 tle Town Court Judges Douglas Kraus and I are seeking high school-aged s
 tudents for court internships beginning the first week of November 2011.
  In order to accommodate as many interested students as possible\, the s
 chedule for the unpaid internships will be very flexible. The only requi
 rement is that the students must reside in New Castle.\n\nOccupy a front
  row seat to court proceedings\n\nThe New Castle Town Court is in sessio
 n every Thursday evening in New Castle Town Hall starting at 7:30 p.m. a
 nd runs until around 10:00 p.m. The court hears all criminal cases &ndas
 h\;felonies\, misdemeanors and violations &ndash\; which take place with
 in the Town of New Castle\, as well as requests for\, and enforcement of
 \, search warrants and arrest warrants (Felonies\, however\, are only he
 ard through the indictment stage). The court also presides over all traf
 fic and parking violations\, ABC (Alcohol and Beverage Control Act) viol
 ations\, landlord-tenant matters and small claims cases. In addition\, w
 e act as Family Court judges for emergency family court orders of protec
 tion and emergency "persons in need of supervision" petitions.\n\nFlexib
 le hours to accommodate interns&rsquo\; schedules\n\nInterns will have a
  weekly opportunity to attend criminal\, civil and traffic court session
 s on Thursday evenings and have personal access to judges\, attorneys an
 d police officers. Interns are expected to arrive at 7:00 p.m. on any ev
 ening they would be attending court. Interns might also be asked to assi
 st court clerks in processing cases during non-court hours. However\, th
 e time commitment is flexible\, to be worked out with the judges.\nIf yo
