Top Brass: 15-piece French Horn Choir Concert
Katonah Village Library, 26 Bedford Rd, Katonah, NY | Get Directions »
FREE
Top Brass French Horn Choir, founded by Dolores Beck in January 1989, is an organization consisting of students from all over Westchester together with professional horn players from the Broadway shows and professional orchestras in NYC.
Currently numbering about a dozen players, Top Brass rehearses every Saturday in the homes of our members. More French Horn players of all skill levels are invited to join at any time.
Our programs always delight the audiences with the variety of music from Bach thru Sousa, from John Williams to The Doors, Neil Diamond, The Who, Led Zeppelin, etc. In this concert, we will have guest artists performing on bagpipe, didgeridoo, electric guitars, electric bass and drum-set.
On November 20th, we have a special surprise for our Westchester crowd in a free performance at the Katonah Library at 3pm. Please arrive promptly as space is limited.
We are featuring the 20th anniversary return performance of one of Westchester’s best rock bands, “Bad Influence.” Top Brass will accompany the band in a very special arrangement of The Doors song “L.A. Woman”.
Appearing with this band as an original member will be Matt Beck on guitar. Matt is a touring member of the famous Matchbox Twenty as a keyboardist, and also is currently appearing on Broadway playing guitar in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.
Other soloists include: Sarah Knapp, actress and singer; Thomas Workman, master didgeridoo artist; Darius Kaufman, bagpiper; local favorites the Bob and Norm Duo (guitarists and vocalists).
Ms Beck is not your usual French Horn master, in Westchester or anywhere: once known for showing up at gigs on her motorcycle, instrument slung over her back, she surprised the audience (and the members of Top Brass) by expertly twirling and tossing a baton at the end of a Sousa march – a skill she cultivated in her teens.
This musical extravaganza is always designed for the enjoyment of our audiences and will most definitely entertain everyone regardless of their preferred style of music.
