Event Raises over $350,000
Mount Kisco, NY – (June 15,2012) – With close to 400 in attendance, the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester’s (BGCNW) 18th annual Humanitarian Award Dinner raised over $350,000 net for the “Positive Place for Kids.” The event honored Richard J. Smith of Entergy as the 2012 Humanitarian of the Year and the Junior League of Northern Westchester (JLNW) as the John Beach Award recipient. All proceeds generated at the dinner will go directly to enhance the Club’s programs and services for more than 2,000 youth members.
The evening featured award presentations to the Humanitarian of the Year, the John Beach Award recipient as well as to Club member Michelle Imbaquingo, who received BGCNW’s 2012 Youth of the Year award. Emcee for the evening was Club board President Kevin Bannon. Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani served as award presenter and Bill Harden of Somers was the evening’s auctioneer.
The auction featured many unique items including a horseback ride for four alongside Martha Stewart and Richard Gere to Bedford Post. Former Mayor Giuliani stepped up during the auction, enticing the crowd to bid on a round of golf with him.
Lexus of Mt. Kisco generously donated their venue for the event. This year’s Humanitarian Award Dinner Co-Chairs were Muffin Dowdle of Pound Ridge and Renee Jordan Torre of South Salem. The Dinner’s Sub-Committee Co-Chairs were Linda Mahon of Mt. Kisco, Heidi Johnston of Cross River, Deirdre Farrell of South Salem and Nori Oliva of Greenwich, CT.
