Air Force Thanks Operation Cookie Drop

The Pleasantville-based Girl Scouts organized coordinated a huge Operation Cookie Drop effort.

The Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson report enjoying a “memorable visit Wednesday from an Air Force Tech Sergeant, Kim Overturf, who came in person to thank GSHH for sending over cookies to the USO and their unit through our Operation Cookie Drop program,” said Molly Gibeau-Griffin, director of development, for the Pleasantville-based office.

Overturf is a Girl Scout alumna herself, and presented the GSHH with a U.S. flag.

Of the 3,000 or so troops in the council, Gibeau-Griffin said that “vast majority of them participated" in the cookie effort, including troops from Westchester County.

It’s a great story and we wanted to make sure to share it with the community at large especially around Thanksgiving. The sacrifices that our military and their families make so that we all can enjoy the freedoms and abundance that we have is remarkable. Our Girl Scouts work hard to give members of the military a little taste of home every year.
