Citizens Medal of Honor Recipients Speak at Temple Shaaray Tefila

On Friday evening, December 9 at 8 pm, Temple Shaaray Tefila will feature a program entitled "From Sorrow to Hope," featuring guest speakers Stephen and Liz Alderman, recent recipients of the Citizens Medal of Honor for their efforts on behalf of humanity.

Having lost their youngest son on 9/11, the grieving parents founded the Peter C. Alderman Foundation, whose mission is to ‘heal the emotional wounds of victims of terrorism and mass violence.’  Since its inception, the foundation has trained hundreds of doctors in 19 countries to diagnose and treat trauma victims and opened nine mental health clinics in Cambodia, Uganda, Rwanda, and Haiti.

Everyone is welcome to come hear the remarkable story of how one family turned anger and devastation into healing - for themselves and, eventually, for nearly 100,000 victims of violence, terrorism, and torture around the world. A brief Shabbat Service precedes the Aldermans and refreshments will be served after the program.
