World War II Warbirds Rule the Skies of the Lower Hudson Valley

Classic B-17, B-24 and P-51 Mustang on display at Westchester County Airport.

The U.S. Army Air Force is alive and well again at the Westchester County Airport in the form of three classic warbirds that are on display.

Brought to the area by the Collings Foundation, a B-17 Flying Fortress named "Nine 'o Nine," a B-24 Liberator named "Witchcraft" and a P-51 Mustang that goes by "Betty Jane" are parked on the tarmac by the Million Air hanger and in town until Wednesday.

For  a small entrance fee, people can climb in and see, touch and smell for themselves some of the aircraft that were pivotal to America's success in World War II.

For those truly adventurous, flight experiences are available on all three planes for a more substantial donation.

The Collings Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to "living history" events and displays, flies these aircraft to different airports throughout the U.S. every year.
