Young Musician Makes Debut

Fox Lane student and Mount Kisco native Anastasia Ferraro is hoping to become a YouTube star.

Following in her father's musical footsteps, Mount Kisco teen Anastasia Ferraro wants to break into a singing career.

Shoppers at Pleasantville's recent Sidewalk Sale were treated to a live musical performance as she made her debut singing in public.

The 15-year-old Fox Lane High School student is looking to make a career on YouTube.

"I've been playing piano since I was three-ish and I started playing guitar two years ago," said Ferraro.

Inspired by other musicians who have made it big after their videos went viral on YouTube, like Christina Grimmie, Ferraro hopes to experience similar success as a vocalist.

"She's really good, I think," Ferraro said of Grimmie. "She's kind of an influence because she got famous off the internet."

So far, she has penned five original songs—"It's usually the lyrics I have a tough time with," Ferraro admitted.

"In a perfect world, I want to make it as a singer," she said. "But, I have plans Bs, and Cs and Ds. If it doesn't work out, I will go for neurology."

Ferraro said she has sang in front of people before, but performing on the corner of Wheeler Avenue and Manville Road in Pleasantville on a busy Saturday was a new kind of experience.

"It was weird," she said. "I saw a lot of people stop in their cars and look, which was weird, because that has never happened."
