Gift of Art Lecture Series - "When Giants Collide: Rivalries in Western Art"

Consciously or unconsciously, artists often produce work in response to the accomplishments of their peers.  Noted art historian Marcy B. Freedman reveals the competitive spirit that underlies the achievements of several masters of Western art by examining the interactions between two great artists in each lecture.  By juxtaposing the masterpieces of an era, she also exposes the fascinating similarities and differences that can exist within a particular art historical period.
