Messiah Sing-Along with the New Westchester Symphony Orchestra

Calling all Messiah sing-along fans! The (NewWSO) kicks off the ever-popular Messiah sing-along season with its first annual Messiah Sing-Along on Friday, November 30 at the Music Conservatory of Westchester in White Plains.

Bringing a new twist to an age-old event, this sing-along will be accompanied not by the typical piano or organ, but by a full orchestra - the NewWSO itself! The NewWSO, an audition-free amateur orchestra conducted by Benjamin Niemczyk, will play from the Mozart orchestration (Prout edition) of Handel's classic work, which means there are parts for every instrument of the orchestra. If you have ever wanted to sing Messiah with full orchestra accompaniment, this is your chance!

To add to the excitement, the NewWSO will be joined by special guest artist Jean Newton on harpsichord, lending an authentic Baroque essence to an already fabulous event. Dr. Newton is the Executive Director of the Music Conservatory of Westchester and accomplished harpsichord player, a true Messiah expert who has performed the work many times over in her career.

Audience members may bring their own score (the classic, gray Schirmer edition is encouraged) or borrow one from the orchestra. Come ready to sing your favorite choruses and a selection of the arias that you've always wanted to sing. At this sing-along, YOU are the chorus, YOU are the soloist, and YOU are the orchestra. The event promises to be a great start to the holiday season.
