Parrotheads Flock to Chappaqua

Jimmy Buffett tribute band Parrotbeach plays the Summer Concert Series

"We're here in Chappaqua because I called Bill (Clinton) and he said he'd play sax with us if we came" joked Parrotbeach frontman Remy.  Interviewed minutes before taking the stage as part of the New Castle Recreation & Parks Department's Summer Concert Series, the Jimmy Buffett tribute band talked about what they try to bring to their shows.

"We're big advocates of live music" said bassist "Jah." "Eespecially exposing kids to live music. Not just here, but in the high school band, or a church choir. It's about having fun and enjoying each other."

As Jah spoke, the other members of the band, guitarist "Mojito", keyboardist "Hurricane" and drummer "Jax", finished their pre-concert meal in the break room at New Castle Town Hall and answered nearly every question with a joke. As one of their cell phones rang, Remy said- "That's probably Bill now"

The group tours regularly having recently performed with the Beach Boys and Earth, Wind and Fire. Jax has performed with most of the members of Buffett's "Coral Reefer Band" over his career.

Several hundred "Parrotheads" as Buffett fans are called, of all ages made their way to Recreation Field and listened as the group performed Buffett's songs including "Changes in Lattitudes, Changes in Attitudes", "A Pirate Looks at Forty", "Volcano" and "Margaritaville", as well as dancable tunes by other artists.
