Gail Patrick's Cafe Owner Blames Landlord for Closure

In a recent statement that was distributed, the owner of the shuttered Gail Patrick's Cafe blasted the property's owner for the closure of his business.

“In these very difficult economic times, the building owner would not negotiate in good faith to renew my lease with more favorable terms. I decided that closing in 2013 would be the best thing to do." said Patrick Filacchione, who was also the Chappaqua eatery's executive chef.

Filacchione, in the same statement, also thanked his customers for their support. He also does not plan to open a new store, according to the statement.

The cafe, on its website, lists its address as being at 31 S. Greeley Ave. (one section of the building indicates the store also took up 37 S. Greeley Ave.).

New Castle town assessment records show that the owners of the site at 31 S. Greeley Ave. are Joseph Elluzzi and Greeley Lailors II LLC, with an address in Patterson.

A call was made to a phone number that was listed online with the same address as the one in the town's assessment roll. A woman picked up the phone and a request for comment, intended for the ownership, was declined.
