"The ovens have gone cold an the vats of icing are now empty."

After 16 years, the Keane family has shuttered its namesake Wheeler Avenue bakery, according to a letter posted in the storefront's window.

"Our story began in the spring of 1998, with many hopes and dreams. It was a family effort," the leader reads.

The note offers a positive tone and message to the bakery's customers—"The conversations and the smiles once shared with all of you will not fade, but remain as a sweet memory."

A separate sign in now empty bakery's window says the storefront is now for rent.

"It has been a good run as people say," the letter, signed by Kevin, James, Julie, Katie and Charlotte Keane reads. "We will miss you very much."
