Millwood: Screening of 'Happy Feet'

Where: Millwood Park, 235 Saw Mill River Road, Millwood

When: Friday, July 5, 8:30 p.m.

Description: As part of the Movies in Millwood Park, an outdoor screening will be held for the movie "Happy Feet." The series is supported by the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce, Millwood Task Force, the Town of New Castle Recreation and Parks Department and Drug Mart.

New Rochelle: Summer on the Sound

Where: New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plz., New Rochelle

When: Saturday, July 6 at 4:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: “Summer on the Sound” features the photographs of Glen Island by New Rochelle resident and former urologist Robert Reid. The exhibit runs through August 30 and also contains archival photos of the island. The reception Saturday will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Ossining: Movies Under the Stars

When: Friday, July 5, 7:30 p.m. music, 9 p.m. movie

Where:  Under the Guard Tower at Playground Area, Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Westerly Road, Ossining

Cost: Free

Description:  The Village of Ossining’s Bicentennial Celebration continues with a showing of the 1932 classic “20,000 Years at Sing Sing” on Ossining’s beautiful waterfront adjacent to where it was originally filmed, Sing Sing Prison. Starring Spencer Tracy, Bette Davis, and Arthur Byron. Pre-movie concert featuring urban folk-jazz artist KJ Denhert begins at 7:30 p.m. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring a blanket or comfortable low-back chair. Rye: "Leaders of Tomorrow"

Where: Rye Village Green, porch of the Rye Free Reading Room

When: Thursday, July 4, 10:30 a.m.

Cost: Free

Description: The event will feature selected speeches and a reading of the Declaration of Independence. The event takes place on the porch of the Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Rd., and will be followed by patriotic singing and the unfurling of the American Legion’s historic American Flag on the Village Green.

Rye: Playland Fireworks

Where: Playland, 100 Playland Pkwy, Rye

When: July 3, 9:15 p.m.; 4, 9:30 p.m.; 5, 9:15 p.m.

Cost: Parks Admission if you go into the park to watch

Description: Rye Playland treats locals to a spectacular show choreographed to music to kick off the summer’s weekly fireworks shows and to celebrate Independence Day. Fireworks continue every Wednesday and Friday in July and August at 9:15 p.m.

We suggest parking a few blocks away and walking down to the Playland boardwalk without going into the park. You can avoid the crowds and see multiple fireworks shows going on along the Long Island Sound.

Sleepy Hollow: Pirates of the Hudson

When: Thursday, July 4 - Sunday, July 7. Timed Entry: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm

Where: Philipsburg Manor, 381 N. Broadway (Route 9), Sleepy Hollow

Cost: All admissions are by timed ticket only. Admission: $16; $12 for children 17 and under. Members receive a $5 per ticket discount. Buy in advance online at www.hudsonvalley.org or call 914-631-8200.

Description: Gangs of blackbeards and beauties will swashbuckle their way through Philipsburg Manor at this raucously fun festival. Musical pirates, gypsy sword dancers, and scallywags of all sorts will roam the grounds, ready to make you smile while secretly stealin’ yer gold. Kids can take part in the Pieces of Eight treasure hunt, wiggle their way into a pirate shipwreck, get their picture taken with a talking parrot and a mermaid, and learn to act like a bloody pirate! Enjoy a pint or two of beer from Pleasantville's Captain Lawrence Brewery and munch your way through the pirate-palate-pleasing creations of Tastefully Yours.

Tuckahoe: Summertime Fireworks

Where: Tuckahoe Parkway Oval (Lake Avenue and Bronx Street)

When: July 6 at 9:30 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: Entertainment begins at 7pm and features music by the Showtime Dance Band. Be sure to come hungry, there will be various food vendors selling traditional street fare food.

White Plains: St. Bernard’s Church Carnival

Where: 51 Prospect Street, White Plains, NY

When: July 3-6, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Cost: Entry is free; prices vary for rides, games and food.

Description: There will be rides, entertainment, a casino and the “Taste of White Plains.” Call (914)949-2111 for more information.

White Plains: My Flag, My Heart

Where: White Plains Public Library, 100 Martine Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601

When: Sunday, July 7, 2013, 2 PM

Cost: Free

Description: A bilingual celebration of Peruvian culture for children age 3-7. Program includes arts & crafts, music and games. In collaboration with the Asociación Peruana-Americana de Westchester y Nueva York (APAWNY).

Yorktown: Java Jive, Summer Concerts at Gazebo

When: Sunday, July 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Park Gazebo, Veterans Road, Yorktown Heights

Cost: Free

Description: The concert is presented free of charge and open to the public. Yorktown Lions and Leos Clubs will be selling hot dogs, burgers, soft drinks, and more. Just bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy. Concerts go on rain or shine. If inclement weather, the concerts move inside to the Yorktown Stage Theater on a first come/first seated basis.
