Field Goods Expands Delivery Service to Westchester & Dutchess Counties

Innovative subscription delivery service delivers small farm produce to customers at workplace and community locations
Athens, NY - May 14, 2014 - Field Goods, an innovative subscription delivery service that delivers small farm produce to customers at workplace and community locations, has expanded its service territory to begin deliveries in Westchester  & Dutchess Counties.  The service area expansion is a natural extension of the exponential growth the company has experienced since its launch in 2011. The company currently delivers to over 2,000 customers in 9 Hudson Valley counties.
"Our success in the Capital District and mid and upper Hudson Valley has inspired us to extend our reach into the lower Hudson Valley" said founder and President Donna Williams.
Field Goods delivers more than 150 different varieties local produce purchased from over 60 small farms to its subscribers at over 300 locations from Saratoga to Yonkers. Each week customers receive a bag of fresh local produce selected for them by Field Goods.
"We've only had Field Goods for a little over a month and already we joke about how Wednesday, the day our Field Goods bags arrive, is the new Friday," said Amy Mikolay of Curtis Instruments Inc. in Mount Kisco. "Every week it's like show and tell, and we tell each other and share about what we're going to make."
"It's another way of getting fresh food for the folks who are too busy with their kids on weekends to make it to the farmers market," said Tom Gossett, owner of Gosset Brothers Nursery in South Salem. "It's a nice service and we're delighted to have them."
"When starting up the company, I learned that small farms sell chiefly through farm stands, farmers' markets and community supported agriculture (CSA) organizations, but that these localized outlets did not reach many consumers." said Williams.  "I started Field Goods to fill that need -- to bring healthy, locally sourced food to more people and to serve both buyers and farms."
A recent Field Goods study found that 80 percent of customers stated their diet had improved through Field Goods deliveries of healthy, locally-sourced food, and that 25 percent reported significant improvements.
"We believe very strongly that our subscription-based service changes eating behavior by bringing a remarkable variety of high-quality produce to customers year-round," said Williams. "And we are proud to now offer our service to Westchester and Dutchess County businesses."
