31st Anniversary of Terrorist Brinks Robbery [PHOTOS]

Radicals killed two police officers 31 years ago in Rockland County; residents and relatives still commemorate the day.

A large crowd gathered at the spot near the entrance to the New York State Thruway where 31 years ago, two Nyack police officers were gunned down by gunmen who had robbed an armored car and killed a Brinks security guard earlier in the day.

Each year, relatives are joined by law enforcement officials and local residents who remember the day domestic terrorists brought violence and death to their community.

Security guard Peter Paige, and Nyack police officers Waverly Brown and Edward O'Grady, Jr. were killed trying to stop members of a radical group who had robbed the armored car at the Nanuet Mall.

Former FBI agent and keynote speaker Kenneth Maxwell addressed the crowd and Paige's son, Michael, spoke on behalf of the families. Brown's daughter Rachel sang the "National Anthem" and "God Bless America" while Paige's granddaughter, Cassidy, sang a special song dedicated to the memory of the three slain officers.
