Photos: Pets Alive Returns to Mount Kisco

Pets Alive returned to Mount Kisco this weekend, turning a vacant downtown storefront into an adoption center.

The visit, called the My Furry Valentine Adoption Event, features an array of dogs, cats and rabbits, ready for new homes.

Turnout for the event on Saturday - it continues today - was reported to be good.

"It's going really well," said Melissa Stone, Pets Alive's development director. About 14 animal adoptions were reported as of Saturday afternoon. 

The weekend adoption event, held at the former Purple Passage site at 41 S Moger Ave., is the second of its kind for the group. Last fall, Pets Alive used the storefront for two days, coinciding with the village's sidewalk sales days, and reported an adoption record.

Churchills of Mount Kisco has sponsored both visits, and owner Daniele Churchill was pleased with the turnout.

Meanwhile, Scarsdale restaurant Fig & Olive was at Churchills, offering some of its own treats.

Pets Alive's Westchester County location is in Elmsford, while it also has a site in Middletown, in Orange County.
