Poll: Should Mount Kisco Get its Own Dog Park?

Trustees discuss person's letter requesting one.

On Monday, Mount Kisco's village board of trustees discussed a letter from a person asking if a local dog park could be created.

The matter was discussed and referred to the local committee that oversees .

The challenges, trustees discussed, have included logistics in setting one up, which is an issue that came up in the past when the idea was proposed. Obstacles include finding a suitable site within Leonard Park and spacing for large and small dogs.

Currently, Mount Kisco residents can use on Beaver Dam Road in Katonah, which was last summer. Having one in the village would be closer and potentially more convenient for folks who live near the park, which includes some residents of New Castle and Bedford.

What do you think? Would it be a good idea for Mount Kisco to have a place for pooches in Leonard Park?

Yes please!! I live in Chappaqua & while the Bedford dog park is beautiful, it's far away & ALWAYS empty. I go during the day and there is hardly any dogs there.
Even if we have to pay an annual fee- please bring a dog park. What can we do to help move it along?

YES!!! There are so many dogs and dog owners within walking distance of the park. It would be a great gathering place, encouraging walking and leaving cars at home. Leonard Park is such a wonderful resource for us and it would be terrific to open this up to the dog people in town. It could be a revenue supported opportunity. And dogs even keep the messy geese away!

Yes please. Ever since the multiple reports about coyote attacks in the forest behind the park we have been worried about walking our small dogs there. A dog park would do a marvelous job of continuing to foster what is a great community, as well as providing an excellent resource for local residents

It would be wonderful to have a place to gather and socialize our dogs. Right now I have to go to Gedney park which is not fenced in. I would love not to have to put my dogs in a car to go to a dog park.

Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join!
