Roger Ailes Weighs in on Douglas Kennedy's Charges

Kennedy has been employed by Fox News, which Ailes runs as CEO.

Fox News Channel CEO Roger Ailes is the latest to weigh in .

Kennedy has worked at Fox News as a reporter. Prior to that, he worked for The New York Post, which is a sister media outlet to Fox. Both are owned by News Corp.

Below is Ailes' statement in defense of Douglas Kennedy, which was provided by family spokesman Stefan Friedman:

"I have known Douglas Kennedy, his wife and his family professionally and personally for over 15 years. He tells the truth and his calm and gentle demeanor always impressed me. He is the definition of a great father and it is  a role he cherishes over all others. I support Douglas as do the independent  eyewitness accounts of the event. It is unfortunate that what appears to be a father's defensive maneuver to protect his newborn baby has been twisted because of his famous name. In my view, the real moral of this story should be don't try to grab a baby from the arms of a loving father."

It's illegal to remove a newborn baby from the maternity floor. There are alarms at every exit for just this reason. Why does he think it's ok to break that rule?
Frank J February 26, 2012 at 09:43 pm
Jeff,
I know it's against the rules of the hospital to remove an infant but I don't think it violates the law. It just sounds like both sides used really poor judgement in this incident.
Jeff Kent February 26, 2012 at 09:47 pm
If you're nurse and you see someone taking a newborn out of the hospital it's your job to stop them. You shouldn't expect to get knocked to the ground for trying to do your job.

Hey Roger have you ever heard of THE NO SPIN ZONE? That must be a show on MSNBC.
patchisridiculous February 26, 2012 at 11:10 pm
Roger Ailes is a psychopath, he should be in jail.

Our daughter has had her babies at Northern Westchester and I know how careful and strict they are about the safety and security of the babies.
By the way, who takes a brand new baby, wrapped in only a receiving blanket outside for a breath of air in January?
Jeff Kent February 26, 2012 at 11:18 pm
A Kennedy...
Watchdog February 26, 2012 at 11:30 pm
How was the nurse enen to know that the baby belonged to this Kennedy. Taking a two day old baby out into the freezing night to get some air is insane.
Jeff Kent February 26, 2012 at 11:36 pm
Parents get wristbands that match the baby's so that's easy enough to check. But the baby also has a sensor that sets an alarm off if it gets too close to the exit doors or elevators

Also what's up with his doctor friend that works there who threw the nurses under the bus in supporting what is at best a bad judgment call by this guy. I mean even if he felt he was in the right, how do you get to the point where you start allegedly assaulting people who are there providing your newborn with care? To the point where you fll down with the baby in your arms. It's nuts!

People are held at a hospital for 2 fold reasons. One, they are well enough to leave and have received meds etc, two, they have signed a release of exit. To leave and to be remitted is dumb. Doc is on thin ice....

The nurse's are right this guy Kennedy is wrong. There are rules in the hospital that must be followed and this Kennedy fellow tried to break them because he thought he was above the law.For the CEO of Fox to state he backs Kennedy is a joke . The DA looks like they took there time with this and did a long investigation and concluded that charges must be filed. The other thing is the er doctor that is a long time friend of the Kennedy's and backs the Kennedy's up for what he did is another joke I hope every nurse finds out who this guy is and gives him a piece of there minds .i can't believe that this doctor finds it right for a NEWBOrn to go outside on a cold day in January.if the nurse's did let him go outside and something happened to the baby what then the Kennedy's would be screaming foul. This man should not be near a child of he takes action like this beaten on a woman. Who would want a man like this around children .

Just curious- is there any way to publish a defense of Kennedy that doesn't come from a personal friend?
We've had 4 children, and in all 4 cases, when we left the hospital the rule was that my wife be taken out in a wheelchair. As for the nurses using "poor judgement:" A maternity nurse at any given moment has half a dozen to a dozen new and helpless lives in their hands. That, added to the numbers of new, stressed out, emotional parents, is a daunting responsibility. It is not their job to make a nuanced judgement about a rich, powerful heir taking a 2 day old newborn outdoors in January. They have rules to uphold, and for good reason. Can you imagine if every father of those multiple babies were allowed to leave the maternity ward what sort of confusion and anarchy could result? The rules are there for the well being of the infants first, last and always. Let's dispense with the personal friends of the Kennedys getting their carefully parsed, hair splitting statements of support published without a responsible report of what a maternity ward is really for.

Hello,
I am a proud father of two children born there at Northern Westchester. Nurse staff (Cari) is nothing short of profession. They are the nicest and caring people I've known. The nurses staff professionalism is nothing short of amazing. They would tell you ahead of time that the baby are not to be taking out until discharge. Although babies are born healthy, they are still required to be in the nurses care until discharge. What Mr. Kennedy does is wrong and is endangering the welfare of a child, he should be charge with assault as well for kicking the beautiful and hard working staff at the hospital. Baby's birth should be a time or joy not anger. Ron

Pathetic.
Pedro March 2, 2012 at 10:51 am
I agree Jeff. Hospital staff are trained to follow rules. These rules are enforced for everyone's safety, especially the patients. The hospital and staff always get sued if something adversely happens to patients under their care.
CP March 3, 2012 at 11:07 am
A parent should have the right to take his child where he wants. The nurses knew for sure it was HIS child. The hospital would NOT be held liable so long as they give verbal advice against taking the baby out. Anyone who doesn't follow hospital rules can be terminated as a patient. If the baby was ill and in danger then the father can be prevented based on neglect and abuse. However, they have NO right to tell a father what to do with a healthy child!

CP,
You are 100% wrong.
Erin Silk August 8, 2012 at 07:35 pm
Ew.
Faux News CEO is under the Kennedy spell...what a surprise...and what a loser.
Aidan August 8, 2012 at 10:44 pm
Ms. Silk, I assume you're as miffed with Brian Ross of ABC and his attempt to brand the Colorado killings with the Tea Party. And I assume you're outraged at the Obama campaign for running ads that call Romney a felon and a wife killer.
I know this galls you ... but Fox is the people's choice. The ratings say it all. But it's still okay for you to smear anyone with a remote who might stop at that channel. That's the liberal labeling mechanism they've perfected ... and you've embraced. You sound foolish.
Aidan August 9, 2012 at 12:16 am
FOX is under the "Kennedy spell"? Excellent comedic license.

Thanks for posting this - sounds cool. What kind of projects will kids do? Also, can an incoming 6thRead More grader participate?
It's About Time June 6, 2013 at 01:45 pm
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join! Feel free to call the number above - my co-worker will be happy to help you.
