THE GYM of Armonk is encouraging members, guests and community supporters to participate in a recruitment event for the Armonk Fire Department, taking place on Saturday, July 13, 2013 from noon to 3pm at THE GYM.
The Armonk Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization and they are looking for people who want to give back to their community and join the group as a Firefighter, an EMT, or both. Participants who sign up for the recruitment race at THE GYM will be able to see how quickly they can perform some routine firefighting tasks, learn more about the fire department, understand why the fire department is looking for new members and pose any questions they may have. Refreshments will be provided and there will be blood pressure screenings, and much more.
The recruitment race will test athletic ability and will include the following elements:
• Start by rolling 1 length (50') of 2.5" hose and carry it 50'
• Connect a nozzle onto the end of the hose, then carry it back to the starting point
• Rescue the dummy and drag him 50’ from danger
• Put on fire gear
• Race to the fire extinguisher and hit the target
There will also be prizes awarded to race winners and participants with the fastest time including two free personal training sessions (THE GYM members only), a one-month free membership (NON-GYM members only), Armonk Fire Department T-shirts, a 50 minute massage and a chair massage, or a free Proclinix consultation.
