Charles is an endurance athlete, writer, and family adventurere. He gave up a successful career at Intel Corporation to focus on writing and endurance challenges with his family, linked to environmental causes. Charles also competes in Ironman triathlons, marathons, and other ultra distance races, and has served as a guide to blind athletes in these events.
In the summer of 2009, he and his 8 year old son cycled the length of Japan, 2500 miles, in 67 days. The United Nations named them "climate heroes" as they raised money for a tree planting campaign and they promoted the UN's efforts to combat climate change.
In the summer of 2011, Scott cycled 1500 miles around Iceland with his then 10 year old son, and 4 year old daughter.
His book, Rising Son, about the Japan ride, offers inspiration to anyone who feels the urge to shake things up and reminds the reader of the most precious gift a parent can give a child: time.
