Photos: 'Dusk to Dawn' Tournament Enters Third Year

The Dusk to Dawn softball tournament was held for the third annual time Friday evening in memory of Chappaqua resident Dawn Re.

The event serves as a fundraiser for a foundation in her honor, with proceeds going to a group that is called a designated beneficiary, explained her husband John Re. This year Support Connection, a Yorktown Heights-based group that helps women with breast and ovarian cancer, was selected and presented with a $10,000 check before the start of the event. The foundation can also give out money to individuals who need support, according to Re.

Katherine Quinn, executive director from Support Connection, said she was "extremely grateful" and overwhelmed. While she didn't know Dawn Re, she added that it's important to keep "the memory alive" by doing work that is in their name.

The tournament was started in 2011 by John Re and Michael Wolfensohn, who are friends and whose kids have played in it. They play on one team, with other teams including the Chappaqua Fire Department, the Horace Greeley High School girls' soccer team and Chappaqua Moms.
