New Castle's First Responders Honored at Antiques Show

First responders from around New Castle gathered Sunday at Westorchard Elementary School to be honored at this year's Chappaqua Antiques Show.

Among those honored were volunteers from the Chappaqua Fire Department, Millwood Fire Department and Chappaqua Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The antiques show is put on annually by the New Castle Historical Society.

Lois Dannecker, whose roles in the historical society range from running the gift shop to being on the exhibit committee, said each department was honored with a plaque and a proclamation. The volunteers were honored for “all they do.”

The antiques show was held for the 45th year this weekend, according to Dannecker. It was canceled last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the town. This year, however, the event went well.

“it's been great,” Dannecker said, noting that there were new dealers.
