Going to a Jewish Wedding and Need a Gift? Check out These Great Ideas

Going to a Jewish wedding and not sure what to bring as a gift? There are a lot of great possibilities available for all styles and budgets starting with break glass kits

Jewish weddings almost always include a breaking of glass at the end of the ceremony. The glass-breaking is typically followed by a communal "Mazel tov!", which means "good fortune" in Yiddish and is the equivalent of "Congratulations!"

Mezuzahs make a wonderful gift. The mezuzah is a small parchment inscribed with verses from the Bible. It is rolled and inserted in a mezuzah case and attached to the doorpost. "And thou shalt write them (the commandments) upon your doorposts of thy house and upon thy gates". The first passage written on the mezuzah parchment begins with the Shema.

A hamsa is another terrific option for a Jewish wedding gift. The hamsa is a palm-shaped amulet popular throughout the Middle East and North Africa, and commonly used in jewelry and wall hangings. Depicting the open right hand, it is an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history.

In addition to the items above, a gift for the home can never go wrong. Ideas like candles and candlesticks, host and hostess sets, kitchenware, keepsakes, tzedakah boxes can send a message of love to the bride and groom without breaking the bank.

Whatever gift you decide to offer the bride and groom, being part of a Jewish wedding is an occasion that will provide a memory to last a lifetime.
