Karate Siblings Learn Discipline & Gain Confidence With Kickboxing

Over the past year I have been in the lucky position of teaching Sandra and Henry martial arts at my kickboxing school in Mount Kisco. First hand I’ve witnessed an exceptional amount of growth from both kids. Not just in size which is natural at this age but in their personalities and development. They are both the quiet type of kids that blend into the background. They don’t say much but that is because they don’t need to. They allow their actions and results from the efforts speak for them.

“At Tiger Schulmann’s we teach two things. Self Defense and Self Discipline. With these two tools the students have the ability to gain so much. These two tools lead to achievements, confidence and ultimately happiness. Martial arts simply put is a pre-requisite for success in life.”

Sandra is the older sister. I’m not exactly sure but I believe that she has never come into the school without a smile on her face. She is such a pleasure to teach. She never complains or looks for the easy way out. She is always up for a challenge and ready to compete against anyone in the class. The only times I ever really hear her say anything is to help a classmate that may be struggling to grasp a move. She has all the qualities a leader requires. She sees first hand what discipline and effort do for her so she is eager to teach that lesson to others she comes into contact with.

Henry is a tough tough kid. He is younger then I sometimes take into consideration. He is very fast and very strong. He picks things up very quickly when he is focused. At times I catch him day dreaming and allowing himself to be distracted but it only takes a quick snap of the fingers to get him back on track. Again I look at his performance in class and forget that he is still young. Of course he is going to be distracted from time to time but I’m very impressed with his ability to harness his energy and get the job done.

Both of these kids are an instructors dream. They are three or four days a week giving me nothing less then 100% effort. They have a desire in their heart that burns very hot. They want to rise to the top of the class. They constantly look to push past their given talents and exceed any expectations. I’m so very proud of both of them. I would also like to remind them that they need to stay on their game. Their little brother Cristian just started the Cubs Program and is hot on their heels.
