Community Members and Elected Officials Celebrated the One-Year Anniversary of Wee Zee World of “Yes I Can!” with a Birthday Bash on April 26

WeeZee World of "Yes I Can!" celebrated its one-year anniversary on April 26, with a birthday bash open to the community.

WeeZee World of “Yes I Can!,” the New York region’s only “family play space” featuring a cutting-edge sports and play zone, celebrated its one-year anniversary on April 26, National Sensory Awareness Day.  Local children and their parents; town, county and state officials; professionals from healthcare associations and autism organizations; and special education teachers and professionals gathered for hors’d’oeuvres, cake and open gym play at WeeZee’s 18,000 square foot facility in the Chappaqua Crossing business development.

Opening remarks were made by Marina Yoegel, the Westchester County Early Intervention and Pre-School Assistant Commissioner. Other special guests included Joseph Kenner, Office of the County Executive, Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, Assemblyman David Buchwald, New Castle Town Supervisor Susan Carpenter and New Castle Town Administrator Penny Paderewski.

WeeZee’s mission is to create greater awareness for sensory learning and play, and to use concepts and play equipment that bring in all five senses as part of important learning and play concepts. WeeZee seeks to improve cognitive capability by focusing on the senses to challenge intellectual curiosity in children of all abilities, ages 1-12.  Research shows that stimulating all of the five senses is critical to a child’s intellectual development and learning – both academically and socially.

“We have gotten to know so many wonderful parents and families throughout this year, and they have helped us  immensely in shaping WeeZee so that it’s become a place that’s here for all families and all children – and including children with special needs,” said founder Louise Weadock,  a registered Child Psychiatric Nurse, graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and owner of the 28-year old, ACCESS Nursing & Healthcare Services, also located at Chappaqua Crossing.

“We want all families to think of WeeZee as their go-to spot for after school and weekend programs and classes, camps, parent/child programs and gym activities,” she added.
