Chappaqua-Mount Kisco Patch Turns 3 Today!

With a third birthday, your local Patch reaches a new milestone in covering New Castle and Mount Kisco.

It was three years ago today that Chappaqua-Mount Kisco Patch went live for the first time. Three years later, I am proud to see how the site has developed and how it has served the people of New Castle and Mount Kisco.

As a Mount Kisco native, being your editor has allowed me to connect even more with the area. This has included learning about community passions, altruism for others and in bearing witness to sigificant local events.

This year, 2012, has been a significant one for all of the above. For example, shopping locally has manifested itself as something that residents and merchants have put into action, whether it has been with the formation of a new chamber of commerce for Chappaqua and Millwood, or a desire in Mount Kisco to tackle downtown store vacancies.

People also continue to be outspoken about issues that they care about. Such examples are varied, ranging from local drives that were organized to help people hit by Hurricane Sandy, to concern over various rules and land-use plans being considered by town and village officials.

The year ahead will present itself with major events that are both old and new. There is a good chance that 2013 will include more good-hearted philantrophy, controversial public hearings and unique human interest topics. Such stories serve as chronicles for the lives of the people of Mount Kisco and New Castle.

As a journalist by profession, I am heartened to provide important and useful coverage. I am also proud that Patch is a platform for you as readers to communicate and get engaged, whether it is through blogging, posting calendar events, or claiming or reviewing directory listings

I look forward to more coverage, more of your feedback and to a new year!

Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join! Feel free to call the number above - my co-worker will be happy to help you.
