Re-election Letter from Mount Kisco's Mayor

(Below is a letter from Mount Kisco Mayor Michael Cindrich, who is running for re-election for another 2-year term)

Dear Neighbor,

I am writing to ask for your support and a vote of confidence on Election Day, November 5, 2013. I have shepherded our community through six years of the worst economy since the Great Depression with no cuts in services, even enhancing our quality of life. While I am concerned about today, I am driven to make sure we provide for the future, the next generation.

During my tenure, for the first time in the history of our Village, we acquired property near the Byram Lake Watershed, affording additional protection for our precious water supply. We added recreation space for future generations to enjoy and built a new Library. We have put to productive use Village owned property that cannot be sold and add thousands of dollars annually to the Village’s income. One example is the former post office next to Village Hall.

The former post office is a landmark listed on the National Historic Register, acquired by the village several decades ago, the United States Government still maintains certain rights in the building. The building sat vacant for a least a decade before I was elected Mayor and was a drain on our budget. Today the building is shared by the Village and a tenant who pays tens of thousands of dollars in rent, funds that would otherwise have to be raised by property taxes.

We have attracted several new, successful businesses adding to our tax base and building the economy of Mount Kisco. I continue to work with Northern Westchester Hospital in their mission of providing quality healthcare to our community. I consider the Village of Mount Kisco to be the Northern Westchester hub of health and wellness. We all should realize the benefits and security of living in community with world class medical providers as our neighbors.

I continue to work with other governments exploring the many options we have in reducing costs, reducing the duplication of services and enhancing the services needed to preserve our quality of life. We have been successful in controlling costs due our dedicated staff and corps of volunteers who work tirelessly in support of our community.

Again, I respectfully ask for you vote on Election Day, more importantly a vote of confidence in recognition of my service as an elected official and my dedicated service as a community volunteer.

Sincerely,

Mayor J. Michael Cindrich
