A bus transporting 33 lacrosse players drove into a ditch Saturday morning, temporarily delaying the high school students' trip to a sporting event.
Mt. Pleasant police said the bus was traveling along King Street when the soft ground conditions on the side of the road caused the bus to drive into a ditch and slightly tilt over. Police responded to the event at around 7 a.m. and requested help from the fire department to evacuate the students because of the position of the bus. No injuries were reported.
By approximately 8:25 a.m. all of the students had been transferred to a new bus and were on their way to their scheduled event. Police are still at the scene and it is not known at this time which school the students attend. No other details are available at this time.
