Updated: CT Man Dead, Several Injured After 684 Crash

Southbound lanes were closed between Bedford and Armonk, reopened after 11 p.m.

A Connecticut man was killed and several others injured after in a multi-car accident on I-684 near the Bedford/Armonk border Tuesday night, state police said.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released by police, was headed south on I-684 when his car struck another car being driven by John Lauria of Stormville, NY.

The Connecticut man stepped outside of his car and was then struck by another southbound car being driven by Rita Smith of Middletown, CT. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident took place at about 9:30 p.m. and the southbound section of highway was closed for several hours from the Route 172 interchange in Bedford for more than a mile, stretching nearly to Armonk, while police gathered eveidence at the scene.

The area was reopened after 11 p.m., state police confirmed.
