Fire Spreads from New Castle Home's Fireplace

Firefighters dealt with a house fire Friday morning in New Castle that spread from the building's fireplace, according to Millwood Fire Chief Greg Santone.

The fire, which was at 60 Inningwood Road, was responded to by the Millwood Fire Department after 9:30 a.m. It went from the fireplace to void spaces in the house, according to Santone. The fire was not visible from the outside but putting it out was an intensive process.

The fire itself was under control is about an hour, according to Santone, with firefighters remaining at the site for about another hour. The house is in the Millwood Fire District and mutual aid on site was provided by firefighters from Chappaqua and Ossining, along with New Castle Police. Briarcliff Manor's fire department was on stand by.

There were no injuries, according to Santone, and two people were home at the time.
