Firefighters and Police Officer Sworn In

Mount Kisco's fire department gets a new commissioner and two new firefighters. The police department gets a new officer.

A slew of swearing in ceremonies were held at last night's Village Board of Trustees meeting.

The Mount Kisco Fire Department's new commissioner, Lanson Hyatt took the oath of office, attaining a position that his late brother once held. Hyatt has 42 years of experience with the department.

"I had butterflies when I first walked in," he said.

When asked what it felt like to be a firefighter, Naranjo said that it made him feel good. He also said that he was excited to join.

The Mount Kisco Police Department also got to welcome one of their own to the fold at the meeting, as Patricia Arcesi joined the force. Arcesi recently graduated from the Westchester police academy and also graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice last year.

Arcesi had already signed her oath but said that she wanted to do the event because she thought it was important to let the town and the department know that she is a police officer now. She added that she wanted to make her mom happy.

"It's great. I've been looking forward to it. Been spending tons of time training and preparing for this, so it was long awaited," she said.
