Head O'Meadow, a Newtown School, Closes After Reported Threat

Another threat Tuesday preempts Head O'Meadow students' return.

One of Newtown's elementary schools was reportedly threatened Tuesday, just days after the mass shooting at its sister school, Sandy Hook.

According to reports, an undisclosed threat was made on Head O’Meadow School Tuesday morning, prompting the school to close for the day.

Newtown students returned to class Tuesday for the first time since the tragic slaying of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday and after another, anonymous shooting threat (ultimately discovered to be a hoax) was made during a special Mass at St. Rose of Lima on Sunday.

NBC30 is reporting that the school’s staff is safe and accounted for and, due to a two-hour delay in effect district-wide Tuesday morning, no students were in the building at the time the threat was made.

The New Haven Register Tweeted that a Newtown police official confirmed that the school was “placed in lockdown for precautionary measures.”
