Kerry Kennedy Due for North Castle Court Tuesday

Medical examination planned in connection to the incident, according to report.

Kerry Kennedy is at North Castle Justice Court Tuesday evening to answer a charge of driving while ability impaired.

Kennedy will be arrainged on the charge, Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for the Westchester County District Attorney told Patch. She is a Bedford resident, former wife of Gov. Andrew Cuomo and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

There has been intense and speculation as to what caused the alleged incident, which state police claim involved her vehicle having a hit and run with a tractor trailer Friday morning on the North Castle stretch of Interstate 684, near Armonk. Media reports have brought up suggestions that perhaps the prescription drug Ambien impaired her judgment.

Her brother, Douglas Kennedy, is skeptical about what has been reported since Friday.

He said that, "she certainly wasn't purposely taking Ambien at 8 a.m.," to go work out at the gym.

Douglas Kennedy is facing his own charges and media scrutiny involving his movment of newborn son Bo through

Robert Gottlieb, attorney for Kerry and Douglas Kennedy, told The Journal News that she will plead not guilty at her court date. Court, which is located in the area of the North Castle town hall building in Armonk, starts at 6 p.m.

“The timing is just really unfortunate,” Gottlieb told the paper, referencing the death of sister-in-law and fellow Bedford resident Mary Richardson Kennedy, who was a longtime friend of hers.

Douglas Kennedy, a Chappaqua resident, told Patch that it's been "an awful couple of months for Kerry," with Mary Richardson Kennedy's death being a reason.

With regards to published reports of possible Ambien usage, Gottlieb declined to get into the matter in his Journal News interview.

Maj. Michael Kopy of Troop K of the New York State Police, declined to comment to Patch about the Ambien reports. Chalfen did not have a response to the published claim, either.

Meanwhile, Kennedy is scheduled to overgo a medical evaluation in connection to the incident, The Journal News reported, looking at whether scenarios such as fainting or a seizure may have been involved.

Keep up the lurid Kennedy news. Why don't you limit it to publishing the police blotter in the police section. This is bad taste.

Ham, it's a question of survival. When one is lost in a vast desert (per their own directions, I might add). One will resort to anything, in a last ditch effort to draw attention to oneself. Any notions of bad taste or prior efforts to disguise oneself go out the window. It is in this desperate effort to survive, that Patch truly shows itself. Never a pretty sight.

Ham and Horse: I think Patch is doing their job, reporting the news and local news this is; it's national news too, sadly. It is commentary on our media-frenzy world that one woman who happens to have the last name Kennedy makes headlines while the world has so much more to talk about but honestly, I think the Kennedy's bring alot of this publicity on themselves. First, Kerry has a publicist who is out within an hour of the accident. Then there's the lawyer who constantly makes statements. Now her family, cousin Patrick and brother Douglas (mostly Patrick) are on the airwaves everywhere you turn (Patrick about to be on Good Morning America). Soooooo, I say they actually LIKE all this press, as sick as that sounds. If they didn't want such a feeding frenzy, sit back and shut up, take the punishment.

Entitled people find excuses. It's not OK to endanger others. At that time of day, many moms are driving their children to camps. Sounds like Ms. K doesn't care about that when she hopps in her big vehicle and hits the road impaired.

10506er, glad to see that the point has flown completely over your head, not surprised. Your contribution is nothing but a contradiction in and of itself. The Kennedy's are not responsible for headlines, that's what you're for. To provide endless fascination and resentment for the most obscure of them.
This is news to you???? Oh, my. You are in the right place .

Do you mean "self-entitled" people? (Which is the opposite of "entitled" people).

Horse: the tribe has spoken. You are voted off the island. Add something constructive or hop on your saddle and gallop off into the sunset.

"something constructive?" like the constructive logic of this comment: " I think the Kennedy's bring alot of this publicity on themselves."
You really should take this stuff on the road, it's hilarious. Have no fear 1050 the sunset is right around the corner.

Thanks for posting this - sounds cool. What kind of projects will kids do? Also, can an incoming 6thRead More grader participate?
It's About Time June 6, 2013 at 01:45 pm
Hi Lisa! Thanks for your questions. In this unit (Vehicles In Motion) the kids will build CoasterRead More Cars and test different aspects of the motion of their vehicles such as: distance traveled, acceleration, straightness, and friction. This unit emphasizes student collaboration in order to develop a set of performance test procedures for measuring Coaster Car performance. An incoming sixth grader can definitely join! Feel free to call the number above - my co-worker will be happy to help you.
