New Castle Police: Parts of Routes 133, 120 Still Closed

Also: Justice Court canceled, with cases moved to Nov. 8.

(Editor's Note: New Castle Police gave a post-Sandy update early Thursday afternoon about the status of its main roads. Below is a copy of the announcement):

New Castle Justice Court is cancelled this evening. All cases have been adjourned to next Thursday evening, November 8. RT 133 is closed between Quaker Rd and Random Farms drive. New Castle Police, DPW and ConEd are on the scene working to open this stretch of Road. After RT 133 is completely opened, the last stretch of state highway to be opened is RT 120 south of RT 117. We expect to have that work completed by this evening. This work needs to be done in order for the town to begin to access and clear your local roads.

Police patrols report seeing increasing numbers of utility crews in New Castle. Town officials continue to coordinate with County and State officials for your safety.

(Editor's Note: The town also announced a status update Thursday morning. Below is a copy of it):

Most of Route 133 has been cleared.  Rout 128 and 134 are fully opened.  Crews are working on Route 120 at North Place and Heights Crossing.   They'll continue to work their way towards Route 133.  Once 120 is open, they will move towards Shinglehouse, Pinesbridge and Seven Bridges.  The plan after that is to open up completed locked and isolated roads.

We expect more creas from Con Ed today and they progress will move more quickly.  We are working to push Con Ed to supply more crews to New Castle.  Please undertand that we are on top of this very difficult situation.
