Police: Dog Killed by 3 Coyotes in Mt. Kisco

A pet dog was killed by three coyotes in the southeastern part of Mount Kisco, police announced Saturday night in an online Nixle alert.

The attack occurred on Friday morning and there was also a reported coyote sighting that evening in the northeastern part of the village.

Mount Kisco police also noted that both reports happened near the New Castle border and that its neighboring town has had its own coyote incidents recently. The incidents, which New Castle police alerted residents about, prompted the town to bring in outside experts for two public discussions in Chappaqua. Experts recommended that people engage in what is called hazing, a technique in which people make noise and act aggressive towards coyotes to deter them from encroaching. Experts at the Chappaqua talks also warned against leaving dogs unsupervised.
